Our Equals: Limited-Edition Wildlife Photography Book

Our Equals is a limited-edition wildlife photography book presenting a series of animal portraits accompanied by short texts reflecting on their lives and the environments they inhabit. The publication was developed as both a photographic and editorial project, combining visual storytelling with a carefully structured layout to guide the reader through the work.

The book was self-published and produced as a hardback volume, with the design, image selection and sequencing developed in Adobe InDesign. It was launched in April 2025 alongside a solo exhibition of fine art prints at Wadi Finan Art Gallery in Amman, supported by Toyota.

Final Printed Book

The Four Book Covers

Four cover options were produced for the final edition of Our Equals, allowing readers and collectors to choose between different animal portraits. Each cover follows the same design principles: a single portrait photograph centred within generous white space and minimal typography. This approach places full emphasis on the animals themselves while maintaining a consistent visual identity across the different editions of the book.

Selected Page Spreads

Example spreads from the publication demonstrating the editorial layout system used throughout the book. Each animal is presented through portrait photography accompanied by short narrative texts introducing the species and its conservation context.

Template

A consistent layout system was developed in Adobe InDesign to structure the relationship between photography, text and chapter introductions throughout the book.

The layout system defines margins, typographic hierarchy, image scaling, and caption placement, creating a consistent visual framework across the publication. The approach ensures that the narrative flows clearly while maintaining visual consistency across the publication.

Process

The publication was developed from concept through to final print production. This included image selection, sequencing, editorial layout and collaboration with print workshops to refine paper choice, colour reproduction

and binding.
